Setting the advanced options

The following settings let you specify network information for the mailer. A wizard will detect the DNS server from your dialup settings and switch to Active+ Software's DNS if none can be found. You can still opt to enter a specific server.

From the Tools/Options menu, click on the Advanced tab:

DNS Server(s)
Use network default: Select this option if you want eMill to detect the network DNS server from the computer settings.
Use specific: Enter the DNS server IP address (see footnote).
Use Active+ Software...: Select this option if you do not have a DNS server.
Enter in the Reverse IP Name field the name that is returned when you perform a reverse IP query on the public IP of the eMill Server machine. It is very important to enter this field with the correct value if you use the built in SMTP server. Not entering the correct value may result in your mails being detected as SPAM. This information is also passed to the receiving SMTP server after the HELO or EHLO command of an opening SMTP session. In some cases, the receiving server will check the information you supplied either by solving the domain name and matching the IP addresses, and/or by attempting a handshake with the declared server to prove its existence. If either fails, the SMTP sender is considered suspicious and the connection will be denied. If you have not supplied an SMTP domain and are using eMill's built-in mailer as the SMTP mailer, the mailer information defaults to the computer identification on the network.
You can have the eMill SMTP relay reply to HELO commands by checking the Respond to incoming SMTP requests (see footnote).

Setting the DNS server address: The DNS server is used to solve the recipient domains. eMill will look up your TCP/IP connection settings and present you with the address found. If it fails to do so, you can find the DNS server address from your current internet connection properties supplied by your internet access provider. If your machine resides on a corporate LAN, ask your network administrator for your company's DNS server address.
