eMill Message Tracking

eMill includes a Message Tracking module that enables you to monitor responses to sent emails. This feature makes it possible to generate detailed statistics on whom opened messages and which links were clicked.

Recording of tracking data is made through an autonomous component, the eMill Message Tracking Redirector. This component need to be installed on a public web server, running either Internet Information Service on Windows, or Apache 2 with PHP support on Linux.

Links embedded in your messages are automatically modified to include the eMill Redirector url. This url is the address of the dedicated site or virtual folder where the eMill Redirector was installed. The eMill redirector logs each click performed on mail sent and automatically redirects the client browser to the destination url. Opened messages are detected thanks to an invisible image added to the end of any html content sent.

eMill Redirector logs are then periodically retrieved by the eMill server to fill the project statistics database.

In order to use the eMill Message Tracking, you must follow two main steps :

  1. Install the eMill Redirector on a public Web Server
  2. Configure the eMill Tracking Settings
