Inserting scripts

The 'insert script' feature properly includes any client or server side script inside the content file. A client script is any script that is executed by the receiving email software (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Netscape Messenger, Eudora, Lotus Mail, Groupwise, etc.). A server script is executed by the server in order to generate the message and uses eMill's scripting features. It is independent from the client.

Client side scripts:

Select JavaScript or VB Script according to the scripting language. Paste or type your script inside the Script window. This script will not be executed by eMill's preprocessor, but will be sent along with the content.

Server side scripts:

Check the Server side script option and paste or type your VB script inside the Script window. This will signal eMill it has to execute the script at server level.
Script insertion inside the document: The location of the script inside the content source is important if you are inserting content variables for instance. eMill will generate the server side script markers at insert point. You can insert as many scripts you want (client or server side) inside one document by repeating the procedure above. The source view mode from which you can further edit will show you all scripts inserted inside the document.
Client side scripts: It is not recommended to use client side scripts if you do not fully control servers who will receive your messages. Most systems will reject mails containing client scripts because they can potentially contain viruses or other unwanted features (popup, etc.).
