The Mailer has two conditions - Started or Stopped - that are independent from the render status (Start / Pause / Abort). The mailer is applied to messages in the 'Outbox' folder, whether that box is empty, being filled or filled. Note that messages have to be rendered (present in the 'Outbox' folder) prior to being sent.
From the Queues Window, select the queue (published project) you want to apply the mailer to and toggle between Start/Stop using the
Project/Start Mailer and Project/Stop Mailer menus.
Starting the mailer, all rendered files inside the 'outbox' folder are sent and transferred to the 'sent' folder according to the mailer options selected. Delivery progress can be monitored in real time from the queues window.
Checklist:
Check the following prior to attempting delivering your messages:
Outgoing Queues: Check that the outgoing queues used by the mailer are enabled and that the simulation is turned off.
Servers: Check that the DNS server address and SMTP domain information is supplied and accurate.
Headers: Check the accuracy of the header information and its consistency with information above to ensure high rate of delivery.
Succession of tasks: Your project has to be published prior to being rendered, and rendered prior to being mailed.
Duplicate messages: Using the scheduling features, beware not to render the messages twice by rendering at the time of publishing and specifying it as a mailer task as well.
