WARNING: Legislation was passed in some countries or states to protect privacy and provide enforceable laws governing the commercial use of email. Be aware there are numerous regulations in certain geographic areas concerning:
  • Unsolicited email (UCE)
  • Opt-out provisions
  • Accurate sender name and router information
  • Misleading information inside headers
  • Compulsory codified labels in subject
  • Point of origin and transmission path information
  • Legal name and physical address of sender
  • Date and time stamping on message
  • Content restrictions (e.g. sexually explicit materials, other...)
  • Use and storage of digital information about individuals
  • more...
Be aware that your legal requirements may exceed those imposed by your local law. If you are conducting mailings over geographical areas you are not able to determine precisely, it is safer to use as guidelines a combination of the most restrictive laws.
